Annual Report to Parents 09/10
Agenda
Agenda for the Annual Parent's Meeting to be held at Mount Pleasant Primary School on Thursday 23rd September 2010 at 6:00pm
1. Introductory Remarks
2. To receive and consider the Governor's Annual Report for the Academic Year 2009 / 2010
Dear Parents
Please find enclosed the Annual Governors Report for Parents for the school year 2009/2010.
One significant development this year was the departure of Mrs Sue Roche who left in February to take on a Head's appointment. We thank her for the years of hard work and this led to the subsequent appointment of Andrew Rothwell to the Deputy Head position. Many congratulations to both and I hope they are enjoying their new roles.
The results achieved by the school are excellent and reflect the hard work and dedication of the staff and their commitment to your children. On behalf of the Governors I would like to thank Mr Northgrave - Williams, the teachers and all the support staff. Spending time in the school, I can see that everyone working here makes a difference in some way and benefits Mount Pleasant School.
Thanks to my colleagues on the Governing Body for their commitment in attending the meetings and events within the school. Sadly, we lose Vicky Evans as Teacher Representative on the Governing Body and I send her many thanks for the time and valuable input she gave to the meetings. We welcome Jackie Wagstaff as Mrs Evans' replacement and hope that she enjoys her time in the role.
The PTA continues to help the school by organising numerous events which I hope you and the children enjoy. Their work is vitally important, and allows the staff to buy the "fun" resources for the children that would not always be possible from the school budget. The new outside trim trail, shelters and games are the latest example of this. Thank you to the members for their continuing hard work and thanks to you the parents for your continued support of these events. I think you will agree that the grounds are looking the best they ever have. Our next challenge is the pathways and a solution will be worked on in the coming year.
The school has fully embedded the new Curriculum and Foundation Phase and these have greatly enhanced the learning within the school. The new themed approach is so beneficial in children leading their own learning and gaining new skills. A great accomplishment this year is in gaining the Becta IT Mark which was led by Mr Rothwell and Mr Smith. The comments received from the Inspector highly commended their work in enhancing IT provision in the school. Well done to them both and, Mr Smith, we will really miss your enthusiasm and life you give to the school.
Annual Meeting for parents: 23rd September 2010 at 18:00
