Mount Pleasant Primary Eco-Schools Action Plans
Welcome to our webpage, wich displays our most recent Eco Action Plans. Every term the Eco Committee, with Miss Morgan discuss new Eco targets to further improve our school. We also talk about whether we have met our previous targets and discuss our progress. Please look at our plans below to see what we have been doing to improve our school and to become a more environmentally friendly school.

Autumn Term 2015

To give recording sheets to each class teacher who can then appoint the class eco member and pupils in the class to record their findings. Record results and give data back to Miss Morgan so that she can collate data and send to the RSPB. January 2015 Miss Morgan Eco Committee New Co-opted members of Eco Committee Each class to spend 1hr a week without using electricity in the classroom. To speak to class teacher and ask them to speak to the children in their class about how important it is to not waste electricity. Record date and times each class in the school doesn't use electricity, and then ask for feedback as to how successful this has been within each class. March 2015 Mr Williams Miss Morgan Eco Committee New Co-opted members of Eco Committee Class teachers Plastic recycling bins in each classroom so that the staff and pupils can recycle unwanted plastic items. Speak to Natalie at Waste savers in Newport and request plastic recycling bins for each classroom. March 2015 Mr Williams Miss Morgan Miss Phillips Eco Committee To start working towards getting our mission award from Wales Air Ambulance After our visit the WAA it was decided as a school that we would like to get our mission award. So we shall will be working hard as a collective to donate unwanted items (promoting the three R's) to the WAA. Also raising money at school events to donate to this worthy charity. Speak to all members involved and come up with ideas as to how to fundraise to achieve and receive this award. To continue to develop the old pond area into a butterfly garden and wild flower meadow. Dig plant and regularly maintain this area. Source plants, shrubs and seeds; for this area, also speak to outside gardening agency (Morris's) of Usk about the removal of unwanted pond grasses in the area and also continually maintaining orchard next to the new butterfly garden area. Speak with Mrs Heal about drawing up a plan of what plants and shrubs we need to purchase for this area. Gardening club to help to continue to develop area as well as each individual class during time tabled gardening time. To use wood that we already have from the old stage area from middle yard to make the bed.
