AGENDA
The Committee discussed:
- A welcome to the fourth meeting. We briefly discussed the forthcoming inspection on the 11th July.
- Some children left the committee and new children have been elected in their places.
- Badges- children are going to make their own Eco badges. Mr Maloney from the canal shop will be contacted to loan the committee the badge maker.
- The children were shown the new webpages and had a virtual tour around the Eco website to feedback to children in class.
- The poppy seed packets have now gone home. The children in the meeting were shown the finished product and we will monitor the email to receive pictures.
- We briefly discussed the food co-op running in school for staff. We now have four children from the Eco Committee who are now running this.
- We are now members of the RSPB. As a school we now receive magazines and books every month. These will be divided into KS1 and KS2 boxes as a resource that children can access at any time. Eco members will be monitoring this.
- That only white and coloured paper are allowed in the paper recycle bins, Eco members are monitoring this in each class.
- That we have had some more emails from Pentrepoeth school. Tomos Morgan is in charge of monitoring the account. We will email them again this week.
- That we are going to start tweeting Eco news weekly, as well as the webpage news. Evie, Madison, Rhea, Hannah and Rachel are our new Eco Tweeters.
- The new Eco plan. Children read through the new plan and asked questions. These have now been distributed to staff and are on display in every classroom.
- Checking that our eco code and posters were up in all classes.
- Our new flowerbed that will be started in the Autumn term to welcome visitors to the school.
- That gardening club has finished for this year and will start up again in September.
- Madison is going to make an Eco I movie for the website to showcase our work this year.
- The process for election next year is going to change. We decided that class voting is unfair. There will now be an application form that will need to be completed, interviews with members of the Eco committee form the previous year and then selection based on the form and interview. Application forms are available on the website and pupil notice board in the hall.
- Because the Eco Committee have worked extremely hard this year, especially with the Eco play, we are going to have an Eco party in the last week of term. (more details to come)
- Rhea has been making birdboxes at home, will send the photos into school.
- Rhian suggested adopting a WWF animal as a school, we are going to look into this.
